The Elden Beast is the final boss of Elden Ring. It is a large entity resembling a sea creature with a unique design. In the lore of Elden Ring, the Elden Beast was sent to the Lands Between by an outer god named The Greater Will. The Elden Beast is a physical entity that represents the concept of order. It is the only God-level enemy in the entirety of the game.
The Elden Beast is one of the hardest and most mechanical fights in the game. Players have to implement a lot of different strategies in order to make sure they can succeed in the battle. The Beast can also one-hit players with most of its moves so dodging its attacks at the right time is imperative. How to defeat the Elden Beast in Elden Ring
As Elden Beast is the final boss in Elden Ring, players are recommended to be fairly high level before heading into this fight. The recommended level for this fight is anywhere between level 130 to 150. Players are also recommended to place more points into Vigor before going into the fight. They can do this by visiting Rennala with a larval tear.
In order to successfully defeat the Elden Beast, players have to first understand his attacks. The Elden Beast has a variety of close-range and long-range attacks and it primarily deals Holy damage. Players should avoid using Holy damage against the Elden Beast as it heals the boss instead of damaging it.
It is also important to remember that the Elden Beast is immune to all Status Effects. Players cannot afflict it with poison, frost, Scarlet Rot, or anything else. The fight against the Elden Beast primarily relies on physical or magic damage.
Players should equip themselves with strong armor when going up against the Elden Beast. Armors that have high Holy and pierce resistance are especially favorable against the Elden Beast.
Learning the Elden Beast’s moveset
The Elden Beast is a tough boss to beat but it is possible with the right strategies. Much like other bosses in the game, the Elden Beast can be defeated if players know how to dodge and evade its attacks.
Close-range attacks
The Elden Beast opens the battle with an attack that spews yellow energy directly at the players. The players can easily dodge this attack and maneuver around the Elden Beast. This allows players to get in a quick instance of damage from the get-go.
The Elden Beast then uses its glowing sword attack. The Beast slams its sword into the ground and pulls it out, which is followed by a giant explosion. Players need to dodge the sword slam. After they dodge, players can get a couple of hits in while the Elden Beast is stuck in an animation. The players can then run behind the boss to avoid sustaining any damage from the explosion.
It is important to keep in mind that between these attacks the Elden Beast constantly swipes his sword or body at the players. Players can easily dodge these attacks by getting to know the precise timings of when to dodge.
One of the Elden Beast’s deadliest attacks is the grab attack. The grab attack can one-shot players so they have to be extra careful when dealing with this attack. Players can tell when this attack is coming as the Elden Beast’s hand glows golden before this attack. The reach on the grab attack is very wide, so players are advised to run away from the boss as soon as they see this attack coming.
Another important close-range attack is the purple cloud attack. The purple cloud explodes a few seconds after being suspended in the air. The cloud causes immense AoE damage that can one-shot the player. Players can run away from the cloud as it gives them a few seconds before it explodes. However, the Elden Beast can also use this attack at a longer range.
Long-range attacks
The primary long-range attack that Elden Beast uses is the Rune Arcs. The Elden Beast shoots out projectile Rune Arcs from its sword. The boss shoots out a total of 4 Rune Arcs with this attack, with 2 of them being consecutive and the other 2 coming out delayed. Players will have to dodge back and forth in order to effectively avoid any damage from this attack.
Another long-range attack that the Elden Beast can use is the homing golden stars. During this attack, the creature swims underwater and then takes to the air after popping out in a few seconds. The best way players can avoid taking damage from this attack is to run away from the attack and wait for it to end.
When players manage to get through the first phase, the Elden Beast jumps up in the air and forms a well of energy that resembles the Elden Ring. Once the ring is fully formed, it shoots a beam of energy down to the ground. Players must avoid this beam as it can one-shot players even with full health.
In phase 2 of the fight, the Elden Beast performs various different moves, most of which are upgraded versions of the phase 1 attacks. These upgraded versions are stronger and cause more damage than before.
One of the moves that the Elden Beast uses in phase 2 is the “Wave of Gold.” During this attack, the boss uses its sword to fire a blast at players, which explodes after a few seconds. Players can either dodge away from this attack or get behind the boss to avoid it. The other attack is Elden Stars. During this attack, players will have to dodge homing projectiles that the Elden Beast throws at them. It is quite difficult to dodge this attack and players will end up taking damage from it almost every time. However, the players can take some damage from the smaller stars while preparing to dodge the bigger ones.
The Elden Beast’s weakness
The Elden Beast is one of the toughest fights in Elden Ring for various reasons. One such reason is that the Elden Beast only has one weakness and it can be difficult to exploit.
The Elden Beast has a glowing golden spot on its lower torso. Players attacking this specific spot can cause extra damage to the boss. Magic players can use long-range spells like the Glintstone Pebbles and try and target this spot to deal some damage from a safe distance.
Defeating the Elden Beast triggers the ending of Elden Ring. However, players can still acquire items like the Elden Remembrance, as well as 500,000 Runes. These items and Runes can be used by players in the New Game+ mode. Players can use the Elden Remembrance to form the Elden Ring Sacred Relic Sword, the weapon the Elden Beast itself wields. The Remembrance can also be used to form Marika’s Hammer, the weapon wielded by Radagon.
