Invasion, one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s newest game modes, is a variation on the traditional, expansive Ground War experience. Invasion in MW2 will appeal to those who enjoy Call of Duty’s larger maps, vehicle gameplay, and getting together with a bigger team than is often permitted.

Although Invasion in MW2 is undoubtedly not going to be popular with everyone, some players will probably enjoy it as a change of pace from the game’s other elements. Before entering the battlefield, make sure you understand everything there is to know about invasion.

Similar to Ground War, the invasion mode throws two teams of 20 players against one another. The key distinction is that each side also has 20 AI teammates, for a total of 40 players on each squad.

This implies that Invasion mode can only be played on the game’s larger maps because of the overwhelming quantity of troops on the field. This implies that both sides have access to vehicles as well, in addition to weapons and other items of course.

Each side must try to capture and hold a number of control points, and the team that wins gets to spawn a little bit more forward each time. The overall goal of the game is to have the first team to reach a score of at least 1000 points.

Your team will receive points through a range of actions. For instance, killing an AI only awards you one point. You will receive two points for eliminating a non-lethal kill streak (EG, UAV, etc.).

Taking down a more aggressive killstreak (such as a chopper or VTOL) will net you three points, and taking out a human player or player-controlled vehicle will earn you a staggering five points in Modern Warfare 2. To keep the frontlines flowing in your favor, it pays to try to operate as a team. You can also spawn next to each other as long as you’re still alive.
