In the middle of the ongoing TV show metadrama, Felix ‘xQc‘ Lengyel has issued a warning for Twitch: pockets of “content purists” who tell stars what they can and shouldn’t stream are slowly but surely ruining the website.

Bowing down to “content purists” and followers who believe there is only one way to stream will eventually kill the famous platform, according to Twitch’s reigning monarch.

xQc has been the main poster boy for Twitch’s divisive TV meta, often streaming hours of Master Chef and animes such as Hunter x Hunter to over 70k viewers. His broadcasts have landed him squarely in the crosshairs of enraged supporters who believe he should be deported.

Why did xQc have such an opinion?

Lengyel, on the other hand, is adamantly opposed. xQc believes that streamers should be permitted to broadcast whatever they want on their channels and should not be bowed down to the website’s “content purists.”

In a January 11 stream, xQc retaliated against his Twitch critics, arguing that not only are these “content purists” incorrect to dictate streamers what is and isn’t acceptable but that their efforts will eventually kill the platform.

“Content purists, attempting to regulate everything,” he warned. Lengyel claimed he “must be doing something right” because of his massive Twitch following and the number of concurrent viewers he draws in every stream.

In the last year, the 26-year-old celebrity has also appeared to have figured out the perfect Twitch formula. He’s rocketed to the top of the site, with 9.8 million followers on the purple-branded platform and close to 100k subscribers in the first month of the year.
