From leaks and other sources of information, gamers expected that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be released sometime in the middle to the latter half of 2024.

However, it has reportedly been delayed to the “early months of 2025.” So here’s everything we know about the release date and timing of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Reports about the release of the Nintendo Switch 2:

According to various reliable sources like Bloomberg, Eurogamer, and VGC, there has been an internal delay in the expected release of the Nintendo Switch 2. Moreover, VGC also reports that one of the reasons for this delay is the lack of first-party exclusive games to launch alongside it.

This means that once Nintendo has developed a sufficient number of well-made first-party exclusives to release alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, it will release them. Furthermore, here is a quote from an insider speaking to VGC about the Nintendo Switch 2’s release timeline. 

On Friday, two development sources VGC spoke to indicated that they were working on Switch 2 games planned for release early next year but could not confirm if that meant a later-than-expected launch for the console itself.

So when can gamers expect Nintendo Switch 2 to release then?

According to an insider, Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe released a new video stating that five sources claim the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in Q1 2025.

Moreover, the talented journalist reported that 5 of his sources revealed that Nintendo hopes to launch its new handheld console in the first quarter of 2025.

So, all passionate Nintendo fans can expect the game sometime between January and March 2025. This delay may disappoint fans looking forward to the new Nintendo Switch 2 in 2024, but they should rest assured that their patience will be rewarded.

The talented developers at Nintendo are indeed developing a solid new console that will launch with many interesting first-party games. Everyone is undoubtedly looking forward to the new generation of handheld consoles.
