“Why is it wholesome”, Pokimane is baffled to see Redditors ‘celebrating’ her COVID infection

Twitch’s most popular streamer Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys recently caught COVID infection, as she informed her fans through some Instagram posts that her COVID test came back as positive. She is, however trying to keep up with her livestreaming sessions even if they are reduced down to two hours.
On one such livestream, when she was about to start a match on Overwatch 2, she decided to check some updates on the subreddit account of OfflineTV (r/offlinetv). Scrolling down, she came across a post which mentioned that the streamer has caught COVID.
The post had not only received more than 1k upvotes, but also given some wholesome award, an option present in the platform. On finding this, Pokimane was left bewildered, “Why are people so happy I have COVID? Why is it wholesome that I have COVID?”. She later asked her viewers to explain the awards she got as she wasn’t familiar with how Reddit works.
Her Twitch viewers assured her that she was probably taking it in a wrong way as they told COVID is rare now, and everyone just want to keep her spirits high. “Are you trying to make me feel better”, Pokimane asked without being able to understand why people were glorifying her being infected.

Pokimane continues to stream despite being infected
Even though Pokimane had informed her viewers that she’d be curbing down her stream sessions after she came back from a brief hiatus, she does not seem to catch a break even after being sick. Even today, she announced on Twitter that she will be doing a short sick stream.
On her livestream, she highlighted how Thomas ‘Sykkuno‘, always checked up on her when she was down bad with the infection. Pokimane explained that when she streamed less, she also had a less time for her fellow streamer friends but Sykkuno always asked about her health condition.
“Out of all of my streamer friends, Sykkuno has been the one that I did not expect to reach out as much as he does, which I have just found so sweet,” Pokimane was elated to share this with her viewers during her recent livestream.

Fans react to Pokimane catching COVID
Several fans were worried for her health, as she was also suffering with the tinnitus condition, that compelled her to visit a doctor for regular appointments.
As the streamer has been keeping constant check on her health by visiting gyms or other recreational areas, fans hope she recovers quickly from the infection.
