“Imma do a little educating here”: Pokimane shuts down trolls accusing her of bragging about paying for her parent’s retirement

Pokimane does not entertain trolls anymore
Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys had been unable to stream or create content this week, owing to some personal reasons which left her busy. However, she recently took to Twitter to reveal why she was busy, and it was seemingly for a good cause, as she stated she was finally able to pay for her parents’ retirement.
The announcement was surprisingly met with some negative reactions from several followers. However, instead of refraining from ranting on Twitter, she decided to take the matter into her own hands and lash out at the toxic fans who criticized her for celebrating something she’s proud of.
She shared the wholesome news on Twitter, “as an immigrant, I’ve always felt indebted to them. now, nothing makes me happier than repaying them for their sacrifices.” Her post was followed by some hateful comments as people started accusing her of bragging on her private affairs.
The streamer, therefore decided to put an end to these claims by providing a clear explanation on her alternate account. She wrote, “so many ignorant comments so i’mma do a lil educating here.” Furthermore, she described the immigrant issue, “i was born in morocco, a third world country, and my amazing parents immigrated to Canada when i was 4.”

Pokimane expresses gratefulness to her parents
It is an aspect that the 26-year-old streamer doesn’t talk about much but for someone who is now making a lot of productive changes on her life, Pokimane is prioritizing her parents above all and has also expressed how much grateful she is to have them. She wrote in a long post on Twitter-
"I grew up being painfully aware of how much they missed THEIR parents, siblings, friends, back in morocco. but, they were always so happy that their sacrifices allowed my brother and I to get a great education & pursue whatever we wanted."
Imane explained that she was blessed to have such parents as she wouldn’t have been a content creator like she is today or gotten the facilities and education if her family had to stay back in Morocco. When one of the users congratulated her on hearing this, they also expressed their disappointment that the streamer has to explain all this.
On the flip side, Pokimane stated that she doesn’t need to explain herself or educate people on this issue as she doesn’t address it on a regular basis. However, she expressed her gratitude to the fans who congratulated her.
Some viewers call Pokimane’s post a publicity stunt
Pokimane’s tweet on her main account has got more than 100K reactions and it is evidently visible that the response was ‘mixed’. Instead of throwing a rant on her main account, she decided to shut each troll by explaining herself on her alternate account.
Although several content creators such as AriaSaki and Valkyrae expressed how happy they are for her achievement, various users wrote that she has only posted this to get some likes on Twitter. One of the user also wrote that he’s glad he spent 10K on her so that she could pay for her parent’s retirement. Pokimane, on the other hand stated that donations are only 5% of her income.
