Euro 2020 Spain Vs Poland Player Ratings as the Poles hold heavyweights Spain to a well matched 1-1 draw
Euro 2020 Spain Vs Poland Player Ratings
Group E heavyweights Spain are yet to secure their qualification into the knockout rounds of this year’s European Championship, as they are held to a fiesty 1-1 draw by a rejuvenated Poland side led by Rober Lewandowski, with which the second round of group stage fixtures officially come to an end. Alvaro Morata put Spain ahead in the 25th minute when fired home from close range from a Gerard Moreno cross into the six yard box but the Spanish Armada failed to capitalise on many other golden opportunities. Poland levelled just after half time in the 54th minute as star-striker Robert Lewandowski lept the highest to find himself at the other end of a Jozwiak cross, heading it into the far post much beyond the reach of Unai Simon. Spain kept pressing on and missed their golden chance when Moreno struck the post from a penalty and Morata could only put the rebound wide, with Poland holding onto their nerves late on to steal a point from the game.
Here are our player ratings for the Spain Vs Poland match at the Estadio De La Cartuja in Seville.
Spain Player Ratings
Unai Simon (GK) – 6.5/10
Couldn’t have done anything much if the shots that struck the post went in, came of is line urgently to deny Lewandowski’s rebound.
Marcos Llorente – 7/10
Good in the defence, though not much to do. Pushed forward now and then to create chances but didn’t fare that we’ll.
Aymeric Laporte – 5/10
Slow and sloppy. Didn’t look comfortable, allowed Lewandowski to jump above him to score as he didn’t even challenge him for the cross.
Pau Torres – 6.5/10
Commanding performance from the Villarreal defender, keeping Lewandowski at bay for most of the match. Once when he failed, Simon was there to cover him up. Back to back good performances in Euros.
Jordi Alba – 7.5/10
The left flank was all dominated by him. Constant threat down the lines with dangerous crosses into the box, as he already made up the second which Moreno failed to convert.
Rodri – 6/10
Was decent but gave away the ball a few times which could have resulted in a counter.
Koke – 6.5/10
Linked up well with Llorente at the right side, with a frequent supply of balls.
Pedri – 7/10
Tireless running from the 18 year old Barcelona man. Showed some deft touches and took on the Polish defence, looked good once again as he constantly shook of the tight marking.
Gerard Moreno – 6.5/10
Proved why he needs to start. Constant threat down the right wing, supplying flurries of crosses and minuses into the box, with Morata scoring from one of them. Did well to earn the penalty but struck it against the bar.
Alvaro Morata – 7/10
Perfectly timed run to shake off his marker and latch onto Moreno’s cross which he tapped home. Had some glorious other chances which he couldn’t make good use of. Scurried the rebound from the penalty wide, with the goal left gaping.
Dani Olmo – 6/10
Was rather quite and didn’t have much influence like the others.
Substitutes:
Ferran Torres – 6/10
Fabian Ruiz – 6/10

Poland Player Ratings

Valiant goalkeeping, throwing himself at every other shot. Couldn’t do much for the goal, but dived the right way for the penalty and came out early on an occasion to deny a crucial chance from Morata.
Bartosz Bereszynski – 6/10
Couldn’t mark Morata properly which led to the first goal. Had a better next half.
Kamil Glik – 7/10
A leader at the back, put up a good performance.
Jan Bednarek – 7/10
Made some good blocks, and gelled well with Glik by his side. Looked solid.
Kamil Jozwiak – 7/10
Wasn’t too good in his defensive duties, but provided constant threat in the attacking half. Beautiful cross to the far post which Lewandowski headed home, notching up an assist.
Jakub Moder – 7/10
Should fighting spirit in the midfield against the Spanish. Though he gave away the penalty, it was eventually missed.
Mateusz Klich – 6/10
Looked decent. Had a great strike early on which whizzed just over the crossbar. Was carded later on and subbed.
Piotr Zielinski – 6.5/10
Couldn’t do much in the attacking third, though he carried out his defensive duties exceptionally, blocking channels and keeping Spanish Midfielders at bay.
Tymoteusz Puchacz – 6.5/10
Delivered some crosses into the box and made darting runs forward, though couldn’t stop Moreno’s cross into the box from which Morata scored.
Robert Lewandowski – 8/10
Struck a golden chance against the bar in the first half, with the rebound being saved by Simon. Beautiful glancing header in the second half as he rose above Laporte to head home.
