The Euro 2020 group D game between England and Czech Republic is underway at the Wembley in London, with the top spot in contention, with both teams now qualified for the Knockouts after the Group B results yesterday night.
Raheem Sterling puts England in early lead against Czech Republic
Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has given the Three Lions an early lead at the Wembley inside 12 minutes, when he headed home a pin point cross to the back post from Jack Grealish.
Raheem Sterling had turned a good lob over Czech Keeper Vaclik against the post earlier in the match, following a ignited start from the Three Lions. Shaw had picked out Sterling with a beautiful ball over the top of the Czech defence, with Vaclik rushing off the line. Sterling lobbed it over him but could only look in despair as it hit the far post and bounced back.
Jack Grealish looked lively from the beginning is the one to be given the most plaudits for the goal. The initial cross into the box from the right is overhit by Saka, but Grealish kept it alive and taking on two defenders, he delivered a brilliant cross to the far post. Saka is unable to meet it, but Sterling is the one to see it through as he heads it comfortably into the net to give England the much needed lead.
