One of the top dogs of this year’s Euros, Netherlands are playing largely underdogs Czech Republic in the third round of 16 match today at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

The match has been equally contested for most of the first half, with the Czechs taking the upper hand in the second half, grasping the game by its neck.

Czech Republic have taken the eventual lead in the second half, when Tomas Holes headed home at the far post, giving the underdogs much to cheer for.

Patrick Van Aanholt gave the opening to the Czechs when he conceded an unlikely corner. Tomas Kalas meets the deep corner and does brilliantly to head it across to the other half. Tomas Holes is well suited to meet the headed ball at the other end, as he powers his header into the goal past three Dutch defenders positioned on the line.

The turning point of the match was arguably two specific moments, from where the Dutch gave away their game to the hungry for victory Czech players. One of those event was the inability to convert probably the best chance of the match into goal by Donyell Malen, shortly which was followed by an unforced and crucial error from their dependable defender Mathijs De light who in an attempt to shield the ball, pulled it with his hand which led to a red card after a brief VAR check.

After the first goal, Netherlands couldn’t come back into the game anymore as the Czechs continued their domination which was spurred by their motivation from the first goal even more. In an attempt to take possession in their hands, The dutch inevitably lost their ball to Czech Republic who moved in a brilliant counter attack to net the final goal given by none other than Patrick Schick their star man, put the nail in the coffin. Netherlands looked to be very off form apart from the initial mintues and lost the game much to the shock their fans. Football shows unveils its magic once again as the underdogs ruled the game against possible title contenders.
