European Open 2020 Final: Ugo Humbert defeats third seed Alex De Minaur in straight sets

The third seed Australian, Alex De Minaur suffered a straight-set defeat to Frenchman Ugo Humbert 1-6, 6-7. The first set came in easily but the second set went into a tie-break.

Humbert will improve ranking

Earlier this year, in January, Humbert became 1st French champion in the 65-year history of ASB Classic. Today, Humbert became 3rd French champion in the 5-year history of the European Open.

In a match that began with a 6-1 win for Humbert early on, was stretched in the second set. The Australian took the second set to a seven pointer where he could only win 4 points. The Frenchman was quick to win the championship, ending the finals in one hour and thirty-seven minutes. Humbert hit 4 aces to 3 double faults.

Humbert will look to carry forth the momentum, holding the best rank in September 2020 at number 38, he is due to make another jump towards the top half of the chart.
