Eva Lys‘ Bad Homburg Open campaign ended in a disappointing fashion. It was just another early-round exit for the German ace.
Up against her was Emma Navarro, who clinched a 7-6(6), 6-3 win over Lys. After her exit, Lys again took to her Instagram story to expose the derogatory messages she received from a fan. Some messages from a user named Austin were just simple “I love you.”
But following her exit in Bad Homburg, he sent her abusive messages, writing, “You are f*****g dog sh*t” and “Serving for the set and you have sh*t in your pants. I hope you die.” Lys captioned the post with: “austin we have to work on your moodswings.”

Lys hasn’t made a deep run in any of the tournaments she has played this year so far. She, in fact, has not yet won two consecutive matches in a single tournament this year.
Prior to the Bad Homburg event, the 24-year-old played in the Berlin International, where her run ended with a straight-set defeat to Elina Svitolina in the second round. Lys, the winner of three ITF titles, has yet to win a tour-level title. The last time she made a deep run in a tournament was in last year’s China Open, where she lost the match to Coco Gauff.
Navarro, following her win over Lys, set up her next-round clash with last year’s runner-up Iga Swiatek. The American has already played two finals this year, winning the Strasbourg Open by beating Victoria Mboko and losing the Nottingham Open to Marie Bouzkova.
Eva Lys on Marketa Vondrousova’s four-year ban
The tennis world is rocked by the doping scandal of Marketa Vondrousova. The Czech ace refused an out-of-competition anti-doping test last December even after being told that she would face significant consequences due to her decision. The doping control officer arrived at her home at around 8 pm, and according to Vondrousova, she refused the test due to mental health and safety reasons.

And because of her refusal, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) handed her a four-year ban. So, another ITIA verdict has divided the tennis world. Eva Lys was shocked to learn of the scandal and took to X to show her support for the 2023 Wimbledon champion.
This is COMPLETELY insane. Sending so much love to Marketa.

After ITIA’s announcement, Vondrousova took to Instagram to post a lengthy message, insisting that she had never doped.
I have never doped. I have never had a positive test. Throughout my entire career, I have undergone countless anti-doping controls and have always stepped onto the court with a clear conscience. Just three days after the incident that ultimately changed my life, I was tested again. The result was negative, just like every test before it.
Because of her case, the tennis world has once again started debating about ITIA’s verdict because they didn’t give a harsh punishment to Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek after they tested positive for banned substances, clostebol or trimetazidine, respectively. While Swiatek served a one-month ban, the four-time Grand Slam champion served a three-month ban handed down by the World Anti-Doping Agency (ITIA).
Sinner was contaminated during physiotherapy sessions because his then-physio, Giacomo Naldi, used a spray containing clostebol to treat a cut on his finger. Swiatek got contaminated because of consuming melatonin, which had trimetazidine.
Vondrousova, who will turn 30 after remaining on the sidelines for four years, is a winner of three singles titles from seven finals. She last lifted a title at the 2025 Berlin Open. Apart from the 2023 Wimbledon, Vondrousova also made the final of the 2019 French Open.
