Dallas Stars’ Roope Hintz once again found himself on the wrong end of a slashing incident. In Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the Edmonton Oilers, the Finnish international was slashed by Evan Bouchard. This was something that did not sit well with the fans.
The 28-year-old missed Game 3 of this series as he suffered an injury in Game 2. In that game, defenseman Darnell Nurse would slash him in the leg, which left him down on the ground. He was later helped off the ice by his teammates Mikael Granlund and Lian Bichsel.
Game 4 marked the return of Hintz. During his absence in Game 3, the Stars got hammered 6-1 and saw his team fall 2-1 down in the series.
In this game, Bouchard would go for the exact same spot on Hintz. This time Hintz was able to stay on his feet and skated away from the Oilers star following this clash. Check out a video regarding this slashing incident below:

There was no penalty call on this incident and the game continued. A total of 74 hits were recorded in this game with the Oilers having 50, more than double what the Stars had (24).

NHL insider unpleased with Evan Bouchard’s slash on Roope Hintz
Roope Hintz was welcomed back to action with another slashing incident. This time, it was Evan Bouchard who slashed him in the leg, leading to angry reactions from fans online. One of them who was not pleased with this slash was an NHL insider.

While taking to his X account, Insider Mark Lazerus questioned how Bouchard’s actions were not “intent to injure” given that it was Hintz who got slashed once again.
Call me soft yet again, but how is this not “intent to injure” given the player in question?

After a user seemingly pointed out that Bouchard had hit the ice first, the Insider would hit back. Lazerus shook his head and labeled the play as “dirty.”
Not at all. Right on the exact same spot where Nurse injured Hintz. This is as dirty as it gets.

Game 5 of this series will take place on Thursday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. A win in this game for the Oilers will see them reach the Stanley Cup playoffs final for a second year running. With the Florida Panthers 3-1 up as well, there is high chance of a repeat final.
