Thiem was 4-0 down in the decider against the World No.1 when he started to exhibit another gear. Recognising this, Kohlmann stated,“I found it remarkable this year that the young players went a step further in these important situations. And Dominic Thiem in particular then took an even higher risk, played incredible forehand winners, and increased the pace. And that worked.”

“The boys next to Dominic Thiem are not only there now. But will soon also be able to win the Grand Slam tournaments. Even if all three top players (Roger Federer, Djokovic and Nadal) are at the peak,” he concluded.
