Rohit Sharma isn’t a fan of the Impact Player rule
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) introduced the Impact Player rule in the 2022/23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament. The rule stated that a team could replace a player in the playing XI with a player on their bench. It was then implemented in the 2023 IPL and has become a mainstay, but Indian captain Rohit Sharma wants it removed.
I am not a big fan of Impact sub rule. It is going to hold all rounders back, eventually cricket is played by 11 players not 12 players. You are taking out so much from the game to make it entertaining for people around.Rohit Sharma said
He noted how players like Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar were affected by the rule as they couldn’t contribute with the ball. Many players have also commented on how the Impact Player rule has negatively affected Indian cricket.
