“Everything Jordan did and multiplied!” Kobe Bryant’s case for being better than Michael Jordan explained by Dwight Howard
Former Lakers star, Dwight Howard has been making the headlines after his recent comments regarding Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.
Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard
GOAT debates in the NBA are endless and usually do not end with a conclusion. This is exactly what happened on the recent Gil’s Arenas Podcast episode. Notably, former NBA star Dwight Howard made an appearance on the show lately. Howard is one of the biggest fans of the late legend Kobe Bryant and publicly made his preference known.
Also, Howard recently sparked a heated controversy during his appearance on the “Gil’s Arena” show. In addition, Howard suggested that Kobe Bryant was more skillful than Michael Jordan. Howard contended that Bryant absorbed everything Jordan accomplished and not only replicated but improved it. This was a huge statement by Howard.
I think Kobe better than MJ skill-wise. He took everything Jordan did and multiplied it. He did it better. He had the fadeaway, the drive, the pump fake.Dwight Howard on the Gil’s Arenas Show
However, one may well and truly argue over this statement. It’s never easy comparing two legendary players of their time, and opinions will always be divided in such cases.
This argument highlights the long-standing similarities between Jordan and Bryant. Their careers and reputations are inexorably linked. Jordan is largely recognized as the best basketball player of all time. On the other hand, Bryant’s commitment to replicating and improving Jordan’s style has cemented his spot as one of the NBA’s all-time greats.
Dwight Howard reveals ‘it was difficult’ playing with Kobe Bryant
The Los Angeles Lakers and former NBA star Dwight Howard had a bittersweet relationship when he joined the franchise in 2012. Also, Howard had the greatness of the late Kobe Bryant alongside him during his time at the Lakers. However, injuries took a toll on both stars, with Howard leaving the organization for the Houston Rockets. Now, after years gone by, Howard opened up on how it was playing with Bryant at the Lakers.
It was difficult playing with Kobe (Bryant). Because one, it’s the expectation of winning and then two, it’s like everybody expected me and Kobe to be like the new Kobe and Shaq(O’Neal). And I’m just coming off an injury, I’m still dealing with all the mental sh*t from Orlando (Magic) and now I got to go to L.A.

This is the most candid and open Howard has ever been about his initial stay with the Lakers. Even if things did not work out with Bryant at the time, it was great to watch Howard embrace his homecoming to Los Angeles and win back the fans with his effort and gritty play during the 2019-20 championship season. It remains to be seen if Howard opens up further on his time with the Lakers in his future podcast appearances.
