While it’s undeniable that Shedeur Sanders is among the top two quarterback prospects of the Class of 2025, his draft projection is shrouded with uncertainty. Many predict him to be selected first or second overall, but some have pushed him beyond the top 5 or even top 10 draft picks. Amidst this uncertainty, the young quarterback has made a notable decision that hasn’t sat well with many.

NFL Network Ian Rapoport reported that Sanders has decided not to throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, instead choosing to focus on team interviews and save his throwing for Colorado’s Pro Day. This strategy, while not uncommon among top quarterback prospects, adds to the intrigue surrounding his draft projection.

His decision highlights his focus on showcasing his skills in a more controlled environment, similar to other top quarterbacks who have opted out of throwing at the Combine in recent years. However, upon hearing the news, former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly gave a ruthless verdict on social media, claiming that he could already foresee Sanders’ future in the NFL and it would be a “guaranteed bust.”

Despite Sanders’ impressive college statistics, including leading the nation in completion percentage with 74%, there have been concerns about his decision-making and processing speed under pressure which have contributed to the uncertainty around his draft stock. As the draft approaches, his projection could fluctuate based on his Pro Day performance and how teams perceive his strengths and weaknesses.

NFL scouts Daniel Kelly raise concerns over Shedeur Sanders’ attitude

Interestingly, the former Jets scout Kelly also scrutinized Sanders’ attitude by highlighting an incident from a game between the Colorado Buffaloes and Texas Tech. Shedeur and his brother, Deion Sanders Jr. were caught in an altercation with a ball boy, Kelly condemned as “one of the most alarming things.”

This is one of the most alarming things I’ve seen Shedeur Sanders do. He got into a verbal confrontation with a ball boy… a ball boy… As a former NFL Scout, I have one question for every NFL Owner, GM, Scouting Director, Scout, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Player, Fan, and everyone who covers the NFL in the Media: Is this the face of an NFL franchise?

The NFL coaches and General Managers will also reportedly assess whether Sanders, the standout quarterback from Colorado, is mentally prepared to handle the pressures and challenges that come with the position of franchise quarterback in the highly competitive environment of the NFL.
