Not many fans can forget the playing days of the late Kobe Bryant and his impact with the Los Angeles Lakers. He won five NBA championships during his career and is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Recently, a little-known detail about his later years with the Lakers has been revealed.

This revelation comes courtesy of former Lakers star Nick Young, who played alongside Bryant as teammates. In an appearance on the Gilbert Arenas Show, the former NBA player talked about how Kobe wanted to get things done but couldn’t because of his injuries.

The first year when he came back from injury, he showed up to training camp, he was the first person in the gym. The first day he did the Indian run... he was first in line. The second day of training camp, he ain't... he was like 'Nick, I'm good, I'm telling you that old sh*t caught up to me'. He was just... 'Hey man, my ankle ain't right today. Y'all got it'

According to him, Kobe Bryant was really eager to get back to work after recovering from an injury. However, after returning to training, the Lakers legend got a cold reality check: his body couldn’t take the stress anymore. Young further remarked that Bryant told the team his old issues has finally gotten to him, and they should just continue the drills without him.

Bryant’s last years in the NBA were not his best. After limping off with a torn Achilles late in the 2012-13 season, he looked a shadow of his old self and had trouble staying fit. Nonetheless, he left basketball fans with one last memory of his prowess by scoring 60 points and leading the Lakers to victory, after trailing by 10 in his final game.

Shams Charania gives reasons why Kobe Bryant is GOAT instead of Michael Jordan

Top NBA insider, Shams Charania recently weighed in on the hot debate over which basketball legend is the greatest of all time. The frequent conversation over whom should be crowned as the GOAT has left fans in splits, with the most common names being Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

However, in the view of Charania, nobody comes close to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

So for me, growing up, like when MJ won his six championships, I was four years old. It's hard for me to watch the YouTube videos and watch the game videos like it's an experience. I feel like the greatest of all time is an experience. For me growing up, Kobe was someone that I watched very closely.

Regardless of who gets picked as the GOAT by fans, there is no denial that both legends contributed their best in the league and their impact on the game was clearly felt.
