The Los Angeles Dodgers have been highly aggressive in the offseason. After winning the World Series against the New York Yankees, the team has strengthened their squad even further by adding some big names. Recently, they added two pitchers Roki Sasaki, and Tanner Scott, leading to huge criticism from the fans. An ex-MLB star has now come into their defense.
Sasaki was one of the top names that the team had been monitoring this offseason. The Japanese pitcher signaled his intentions to join an MLB team after having another splendid season with the Chiba Lotte Mariners of the NPB.
After weeks of speculations, Sasaki this past Friday took to his Instagram account and announced that he would be joining the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Sunday, the team made another big move as they picked up top relief pitcher Tanner Scott from free agency.
Scott joins the Dodgers on a 4-year $72 million deal after spending half of the 2024 season with the San Diego Padres. All of this has ignited huge criticism against the Dodgers with many fans and experts slamming them for their spending.
However, former MLB star Cameron Maybin has come into their defense. Taking to his X account, he backed the team for their moves.
He would even urge the fans to stop complaining about the Dodgers and urge their favorite team to spend. A majority of the fans have questioned the LA-based side and have been furious regarding their off-season transactions.
The Dodgers are not ruining baseball. They're showing their fans that they care about winning and understand that at the end of the day they will do whatever it takes to bring more championships back to LA. Fans need to stop complaining and encourage your favorite team Do… https://t.co/4104RmBjlZ

Apart from Scott and Sasaki, the team has signed two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell, Michael Conforto, and Hyeseong Kim. The team also brought back stars like Teoscar Hernandez, and Blake Treinen from free agency and extended the contract of utility man Tommy Edman.
Former MLB GM reacts to LA Dodgers adding Tanner Scott to their bullpen
The Los Angeles Dodgers added another piece to their bullpen on Sunday by agreeing to terms with Tanner Scott. The left-handed pitcher had an amazing 2024 season with the Miami Marlins and the San Diego Padres as he pitched with a low ERA of 1.75.
The addition of Scott has now been labeled as a “huge deal” for the Dodgers by former GM Jim Bowden. The ex-Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals GM had earlier claimed that there would be an “investigation” regarding Roki Sasaki‘s deal with the Dodgers.
The MLB officials would soon clarify that there was no wrongdoing in this deal. Bowden now, has said that the deal of Scott is good for the team.

The Dodgers are being considered as heavy favorites to win the World Series again in 2025. If they are successful in defending their crown this year, they will become the first team after the New York Yankees to go back-to-back in the World Series.
