Michael Jordan owned 23XI Racing and fellow Ford team Front Row Motorsports ruined NASCAR plans to settle all the drama around the 2025-2031 Charter deal drama by refusing to sign the deal offered to them ahead of them. At the same time every other team on the grid decided to ink the take it or leave it offer.
The decision from FRM and 23XI attracted a lot of negative criticism coming their way. But former Xfinity and Truck Series champion Greg Biffle has come to their defense. The legendary driver took it to his YouTube channel to voice his opinion on the drama and asserted that the while charter wars is all about money.
He highlighted how everyone in NASCAR wants the biggest piece of the pie in terms of financial benefits and admitted that the sport is a vicious cycle of back and forth regarding such financial deals. So he believes 23XI and FRM shouldn’t be blamed for refusing to sign the deal if they finds it not rewarding enough for them.
Everybody wants a piece of the pie... it's about the money and where's the money going… NASCAR is not a sport without the teams and the driver and the sponsors that make up the things. So, it’s a vicious circle everybody needs everybody in order to make this deal work and some teams have decided not to sign the charter deal and you know that they have their own reasons and in a way I don’t blame them.Greg Biffle said via his YouTube channel.
HOF Dale Earnhardt Jr. expected many teams to join 23XI and FRM
While talking about the same topic, Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has asserted that he expected more teams to refuse from signing the deal. But he admitted that understanding that there is near zero possibility of getting a better deal, the teams just gave up and signed it.
I thought that the teams would hold out longer. I guess I was a bit surprised that they signed. Didn’t see that coming, but I felt the teams would hold out longer. Apparently, the message was clear from NASCAR to these teams that signed that this is it. Take it or leave it.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
It was surprising to many fans seeing the split between the teams over signing of the new agreement. NASCAR is in a situation where they have to settle the issues soon before it gets ugly as the whole sport would be affected by it.
