Widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan was an icon on and off the court. His playing career spanned decades, and he left an indelible mark on the game. Nonetheless, some people feel Jordan was more dangerous during his time at the Washington Wizards than when he played for the Chicago Bulls.
This is a sentiment echoed by former player Rasheed Wallace, who believes the two-time Hall of Famer was a bigger threat in his later years. He stated this in a recent episode of The Sheed & Tyler Show recently.
According to him, Michael Jordan developed his game at the Wizards much better than when was at the Bulls. Wallace further argued that while Jordan wasn’t agile like he was in Chicago, he became stronger and more intimidating to opponents and that it was unlike the early years of his career when his angles were still raw. While MJ was undoubtedly a powerhouse on the court, the NBA veteran asserts his overall game skills improved tremendously at the Washington Wizards.
I think he was a little bit more dangerous when he was at the Wizards. He didn't have the athleticism that we were used to seeing MJ had. But his angles were a little bit more sharp. You wasn't gonna move him, he was a strong two guard... And his shots became more dangerous. He became more solid.Rasheed Wallace said
Jordan played 15 seasons in the league between 1984 to 2003, winning six championships with the Chicago Bulls. However, despite announcing retirement twice, Jordan returned to the NBA in 2001 at the age of 38. Although he didn’t win any titles in Washington, every home game during his two seasons with the Wizards was sold out! It was indeed a testament to the unparalleled influence of the basketball legend on the game.
Katie Ledecky revealed how Michael Jordan’s greatness rubbed off on her after childhood encounter
During the time MJ spent at the Wizards, his aura and impact was felt both on the court and outside. And despite being in his later years at the time, that influence still rubbed off on USA swimmer Katie Ledecky as a child.
While detailing her childhood, meeting with Jordan during a Wizards game, Ledecky shed light on her experience.
We were at a Wizards game... Michael Jordan was there. He was part of the Wizards organization back then. And I was eating my popcorn and Michael Jordan started playing peekaboo with me... I do like to think that he inspired me and passed on a little bit of his greatness.Katie Ledecky explained in a viral TikTok clip
Despite being just two years old at the time, Ledecky’s contact with the basketball great is one of her fond memories. Given the heights she has gone on to attain career-wise, her experience as a child likely helped inspire her positively. A thought the 27-year-old shares herself.
