Jabari Parker
Former NBA player, Jabari Parker has been making rounds on the internet recently. Parker last featured for the Boston Celtics in 2022 before testing himself abroad, in a European league. Parker left Celtics for Barcelona of Liga ACB and experienced what it is like to play as an overseas player. Notably, his side was defeated by Real Madrid in the semi-finals, which saw an end to his side’s season.
However, after the game, a reporter came up to Parker in the locker room. The reporter questioned Parker about what it was like to play as an overseas player in a different league. To everyone’s surprise, Parker broke down to tears on-air and could not provide an answer. The reporter handled the sensitive situation gracefully and asserted to Parker that he would talk to him later.
This news has been making rounds on the internet. Many fans put forward their views on various social media apps regarding Parker’s situation. One fan wrote on X: “Man I just saw him dunk on that 7’3 dude. He’s crazy athletic. I hope he thrives overseas and maybe gets picked up by a NBA team”
On the sports side, for eight seasons, Jabari Parker was a player for six clubs, including the Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks. In 310 regular-season games, he averaged 14.1 points and 5.5 rebounds as per StatMuse. Not only that, Parker was a standout athlete in high school, winning four straight Illinois state championships with Simeon Career Academy. Gatorade and McDonald’s awarded Parker the National High School Player of the Year.
Jabari Parker and Barcelona lost to Real Madrid in the Semi-finals
Jabari Parker and his Barcelona side were on the losing side against Real Madrid 92-95 in the Liga Endesa semifinal game. This result saw Parker’s season come to an end, without winning any trophies. However, he left a monstrous impact on the Euro League. He averaged 10.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game with Barcelona during his debut EuroLeague campaign.
Interestingly, in the same game against Real Madrid, Parker demonstrated his immense skill set. In one dribble, he tore through the paint and then dunked over Edy Tavares with one hand. Tavares is seven feet three inches tall. Parker still delivered the dunk that sent him to the hardwood. This showcases Parker’s immense quality in the sport.
On the other hand, his career in the United States was cut short by multiple ACL injuries in his left knee. The Boston Celtics were his NBA team during his final campaign, which took place in 2021–2022. That season, he played in just 12 games.
