Ex-player ranking Kevin Durant above Kobe Bryant in Top-10 list baffles co-hosts
NBA star Kevin Durant receives backing from former NBA player Chandler Parsons in recent segment of the Run It Back Show.
Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant
The NBA community has seen many players enter the league as rookies and leave as legends of the sport. A few of them leave an underlying legacy on the fans and the league. Some of them are the great, Michael Jordan, the late Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant in recent times. These stars are often compared to each other, leading to tons of debates and controversies.
Similarly, former NBA player Chandler Parsons made a bold statement recently. Parsons released his most recent analysis of the NBA’s greatest players of all time. This created a lot of buzz on social media. Despite what many people believe, Parsons ranks Kevin Durant as one of the greatest players of all time. Surpassing even Kobe Bryant.
"I love Kobe [Bryant], God rest his soul, but he's not top-3 [all-time] in most people's eyes. I don't even understand how this is even an argument with him & LeBron [James]. I would rank Kevin Durant above Kobe."

Several NBA players, namely Shaquille O’Neal, James Harden, Gilbert Arenas, and Jayson Tatum have ranked Bryant as one of the greatest of all time. This was since his ascent to fame in the early 2000s. The Lakers retired the Lakers’ 8 and 24 jersey numbers. This made him the only player in NBA history to have both numbers retired by the same team. However, not everyone thinks Bryant should be in the top five.
It’s not often that Kevin Durant is mentioned in the discussion of the greatest of all time. But he makes a valid case. Durant is regarded as one of the best basketball scorers of all time. Also, his achievements are unmatched. Durant has played in the NBA for 16 years. During these years, he has been named an All-Star 11 times, and a champion twice. Also, an MVP once, and the scoring leader four times.
This is not the first time Kevin Durant has been included in the GOAT case
Three-time NBA champion and superstar James Worthy was questioned if he believed Kevin Durant’s name should be included in the discussion of the greatest of all time. When the former Lakers player made an appearance at the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation Gala in August 2024, he agreed with this stance.

It’s difficult to say with certainty that Durant might be superior to players like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Tim Duncan, or even Stephen Curry when it comes to assessing GOATs. However, there is no denying that he is one of the top three players of the past ten years and that he can score points.
