The 2024 Cup season marked the intense negotiations between NASCAR and the teams over 2025-2031 charter deal. Things took a turn for the worst, as 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports refused to sign the “take it or leave it” deal while other teams did. They later sued NASCAR alleging monopoly.

The lawsuit’s initial stages are already completed, with the team alliance winning an injunction that ensure them full-time slot for 2025 season. Recently ex-NASCAR racer Jeremy Mayfield, who had his win legal battle with the sport in past, discussed the topic for Chase Holden’s YouTube channel. He called out other teams for not supporting Michael Jordan’s efforts.

What Jordan and them are doing is not something everybody in that arena hasn’t already said or done; they all want the same thing. The other ones just chickened out; they weren’t gonna stand up for themselves.

Jeremy Mayfield told Chase Holden’s YouTube channel.

He pointed out that all the teams including the likes of big dog Hendrick Motorsports was afraid of standing up for themselves. Mayfield also highlighted that the big teams refused to take a stand as they had enough revenue ignore the issues other teams face.

All the other rest of the teams it goes from Hendrick to all the way down the line, and Roger and them, they don’t care; they got the money; Hendrick’s got the money.

Jeremy Mayfield added.

Jeremy Mayfield believes the lawsuit is the best thing that happened

While further talking about the topic, he asserted that teams like Richard Childress Racing and many similar sides decided to sign the deal because they needed the money and couldn’t afford any rebellion. So having someone like Jordan taking a stand is the best thing that happened, and Mayfeild expect this lawsuit to pull the sport back to normalcy.

Richard Childress needs it. A lot of those teams need the money. So, they are not going to upset them whatsoever. Now you’ve got a guy who doesn’t care what you think, which is the best thing that’s happened because he’s gonna hopefully pull the sport back into some type of normalcy.

Jeremy Mayfield said.

The comment from the ex-racer shows that almost all the teams in the garage wants to support 23XI-FRM but refused to do it over the fear of the sanctioning body. It would be interesting to see if any teams will take a stand supporting the alliance in the future with the lawsuit still alive.
