Ex-Super Bowl champion Jacoby Jones tragically passes away at 40
Jacoby Jones had celebrated his 40th birthday just 11 days before his demise.

This Sunday morning, gloomy clouds covered the world of the NFL as the tragic news of Jacoby Jones’ death came to light. He was just 40.
The Houston Texans’ former star player Jones passed away on Sunday morning. As per the official sources, the return specialist passed peacefully in his sleep at his suburban house in Houston. The cause of death is yet to be revealed.
Drafted in 2007, Jones was picked in the third round by the Texans and he spent most of his nine-year football career with them. With a slow career start, the wide receiver finally became a relying player for his team from 2009 to 2011 posting 1,511 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He additionally averaged 24.1 yards per kickoff return and 9.8 yards per punt return.
He gained glory when he moved to the Baltimore Ravens in 2012 and majorly contributed to the team’s Super Bowl victory in 2013, earning the title of a ‘hero.’ In his illustrious football career, Jones surpassed many Super Bowl records, including the longest kickoff return with a count of 108 and the longest play record.
Within only two years of being with the Ravens, Jones established his place among the top returners and earned both Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors.
Following his departure from the Ravens, Jones spent three more years playing in the league before retiring in 2015. Unfortunately, a mere 11 days after celebrating his 40th birthday, the Super Bowl champion met with the tragic fate of death.
NFL world mourns sudden passing of Jacoby Jones
Compared to the majority of players with such achievements, Jones retired rather early in 2015. But in his limited time in the league, he earned great respect among his peers as well as the future generation. One of his former teammates, JJ Watt, with whom Jones played for one season, paid tribute to the defense superstar on social media.

Many of his former players expressed grief on social media, saying they’ll deeply miss him. They tributed him with high words such as “absolute legend” and “1 of 1.” It’s not easy losing a star like Jones from the world as he was known to create a ‘miracle’ on the football field and now that he is gone, the whole world of sports is grieving.
