Looks like the NFL has found Joe Burrow’s successor and if thing goes well, he won’t suffer the comprising fate of injuries like the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback. After the Senior Bowl in Alabama, former NFL head coach Brian Callahan hyped up Shedeur Sanders ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine. And he isn’t the only one to have such an opinion.

In the latest episode of The Facility, LeSean McCoy shared Callahan’s opinion on Sanders, drawing a striking comparison with Burrow, who’s coming off a remarkable season with 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns. The former Super Bowl champion highlighted similarities in the playing style of Burrow and Sanders, including one such quality that McCoy has hardly even seen in great quarterbacks in the NFL.

When I see Shedeur [Sanders], I see Joe Burrow. They both have strong arms, they both are very accurate and calm in the pocket. You know, they both throw very catchable balls, every quarterback can’t do that. I’ve been around some greats, I won’t name them but they don’t always throw a catching ball. They [Sanders and Burrow] do… it looks just identical.

“Shady” McCoy said

When Callahan spoke to ESPN Turron Davenport about Sanders, he highlighted similar points as McCoy, claiming the Heisman Trophy runner-up has similar traits as Burrow, especially in terms of their uniqueness. The comparison between both quarterbacks is fitting due to their ability to remain composed in the pocket, even when facing intense pressure.

Shedeur Sanders’ draft projection rises ahead of NFL Scouting Combine

As the NFL Scouting Combine approaches soon, there has been a significant discussion on Sanders’ draft projection, which has only compounded since the Senior Bowl. According to the Scouting Report by B/R, the Colorado Buffalos quarterback is being praised as a “high-level passer” for his accuracy and ball placement from the pocket while throwing the ball.

Sanders is coming off a standout season with the Buffs in 2024, even though the team didn’t qualify for the college football playoffs. He threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions with a completion percentage of 75.

Although there are some concerns relating to physical as he is set to undergo serious evaluation, it’s unlikely to affect his draft projection. Given, that the 2024 first overall pick, Caleb Williams was also observed to be undersized, yet he was drafted as No. 1 by the Chicago Bears.
