Adrian Newey deemed his shocking exit from Red Bull amidst the ongoing 2024 season. The aero-genius left the team due to the evergrowing tensions amongst the top roles of the team. Hence, the next move for the 65-year-old was highly questioned on the grid. Newey was rumored to exit the sport altogether and enjoy a hiatus before the new regulations. However, according to new rumors, the Briton might have sealed a deal with an existing team on the grid.
Adrian Newey‘s reason behind exiting Red Bull wasn’t completely clear. The team believed that the reason for the aero-genius quitting was due to old age and wanting a break. Even Newey kept complete silence regarding his next move. However, amidst Ferrari’s improving pace, the technical wizard is rumored to have already signed a deal with Ferrari.

Newey’s deal with Ferrari is supposed to be for at least three years and will be continuing during the new set of regulations. Additionally, the contract is rumored to be approximately $105 Million over the course of the contract. There has not been any concrete information regarding this claim as the grid awaits confirmation from either the Italian constructor or the Englishman.
Adrian Newey had previously revealed that he turned down Ferrari’s offer thrice in the past
Adrian Newey boasts one of the most decorated careers in Formula 1 as a chief designer for chassis. The 65-year-old has been continuously approached by multiple teams in the past to join their teams. However, despite the current rumors of a deal between Newey and Ferrari, the Englishman had previously mentioned that he rejected Maranello’s offer thrice in the past.
The aero-genius highlighted that Ferrari initially approached him during his IndyCar days. Additionally, the Italian constructor approached the Englishman twice in 1993 and 2014, out of which the ’93 one was much more tempting. However, the offer in 2013 was purely out of frustrations of Renault’s power unit failure during the turbo hybrid era.
Ferrari approached me in my IndyCar days, which probably doesn’t count, then ’93 and famously in 2014. The ’93 one was very tempting. My discussions in 2013 with Ferrari were purely out of frustration. I really didn’t want to leave but we were in this position where Renault hadn’t produced a competitive turbo hybrid engine.Adrian Newey said on F1’s Beyond the Grid podcast.
However, the 65-year-old will likely lock in with Ferrari amidst their promising-looking prospects. The Italian constructor is ready to provide the Englishman with much better conditions than his previous job. Hence, it only makes sense for Newey to consider joining only Ferrari and not other constructors on the grid.
