Adrian Newey is regarded as one of the greatest minds in racing history. The Briton spearheaded Red Bull’s success in the past two decades, but now will move to Aston Martin. However, the 66-year-old has made a bold claim over Milton Keynes.
Newey is currently not part of F1 operations for Red Bull Racing. The aero genius is under gardening leave while completing the RB17 Hypercar. Adrian Newey will only be allowed to join Aston Martin from March this year.
Though, the 66-year-old can’t contribute to Aston Martin just yet, he could think about ideas. Newey has now revealed that Red Bull has blocked all his tools to prevent him from working even on an individual level. As such, he will work on the 2026 car from day 1 of his new job.
Adrian Newey to be 2 months ‘behind’ at Aston Martin
Formula 1 will undergo a major rule change in 2026. This presents the perfect opportunity for Aston Martin to become a title threat. The aero rules will be released to the teams by the first week of January. However, as Adrian Newey will only start work from March, he would already be two months behind the curve in understanding the rules.
Newey is certainly a smart mind who will know how to handle this situation. Despite a delayed start, the Briton will find a way to get up to speed in no time. Adrian Newey’s involvement is pivotal in Aston Martin’s plans of challenging for the title.
