Adrian Newey‘s mastercraft in chassis design enabled Red Bull to dominate a majority of the ground-effect era. The aero-genius has already deemed his exit from Milton Keynes effective immediately by the next season. Hence, the successor of Newey, Pierre Wache claimed that he wasn’t fazed by the credit for Red Bull’s success being awarded to the former.
Red Bull’s struggles in the 2024 season started precisely after Adrian Newey‘s exit from the team. Hence, multiple people believed the aero-genius’s dismissal to be the reason behind it.
Pierre Wache reckoned that his frustrations were with the team’s struggles and not the credit for the success of the team. Additionally, Wache noted that the people in the team were aware of the importance of everyone in the crew.
No, not at all. The frustration is not to win. I don’t mind if the media says [something is] due to whomever – what is important is we know each individual in the team will participate to the system.Pierre Wache told planetf1.com
Apart from this, Wache noted that the team would be based on one person only. However, this wasn’t the case as the entire team was working hard on the chassis and improving performance. The Frenchman further appreciated over 300 people working hard at the Red Bull factory to make the mediocre RB20 quicker.
Otherwise, it would be a team of one person, but that is not the case – we have more than 300 engineers in the system to develop and make our car quicker.

Pierre Wache claims he’s not working to ‘be a star’ in the Red Bull team
Pierre Wache’s work has definitely gone under the radar even though he was present during crucial decisions of the RB20. Despite this, the 49-year-old applauded Newey’s mastercraft in the team in the past. However, for the media, Wache wasn’t working to just be a star in the team due to his work. On the contrary, the Frenchman was working as he wanted to succeed in the sport and enjoyed the process.
Adrian was a big part of it but like every individual, and I think it is important for each individual that they are doing the best they can. With the media, I’m not working especially to be a star or whatever, I’m working because I like what I’m doing. I want to succeed and win, that is the main thing.Pierre Wache noted
Red Bull will continue to work on the RB20 chassis over the summer break even in Newey’s absence. Pierre Wache will have to work extended hours to ensure great learning for the 2024 season as well. Hence, the team has a lot of work pending to maintain their lead in the championship standings.
