Esteban Ocon‘s future at Alpine was at extreme risk, especially after the collision in Monaco. The French driver ran the risk of being replaced by another driver in the coming season due to degrading performance. Team principal Bruno Famin even mentioned that the 27-year-old would face serious consequences for the incident. However, Ocon has finally parted ways with the French constructor.

Esteban Ocon has raced with Alpine for the past five years before announcing his exit from the team. Hence, the team principal Bruno Famin mentioned that it was a great honor to work alongside the Frenchman. Additionally, Famin recalled the great results scored by Ocon, especially the 2021 Hungarian GP race victory with the team.

We would like to firstly thank Esteban for his commitment to the team for the past five years, During his time, we have celebrated some fantastic moments together, the best of which coming at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix with a memorable race win.

Regardless, the 2024 season still has 16 races pending. Hence, the 62-year-old noted that the team had a clear objective to work tirelessly and push for great results with Ocon. Additionally, the team principal wished the best for future endeavors of the French driver whenever the time comes.

Leaving Alpine after serving the team together for so long would definitely not have been easy for the 27-year-old. Ocon opened up regarding the move and his feelings after declaring the news. The Frenchman claimed that he spent a significant time of his life racing with Alpine. Although Ocon joined the constructor five years back, his journey at Enstone started when he was a teenager.

It’s been a significant period of my life to be racing at this team in Formula 1. While I’ve been here for five years as a full-time racing driver, my professional career started at Enstone back when I was a teenager, so it will always be a special place for me.

Additionally, Esteban Ocon reminisced about his wonderful time at Alpine before leaving the team. The 27-year-old added that he would announce his future plans very soon after deeming his exit from the team. In the meantime, Ocon would usher his focus over to ending the season with Alpine on a great note and resign from all duties in the French team.

We have had some great moments together, some tough moments as well, and I am certainly grateful to everyone at the team for these memorable times. I will announce my plans very soon but, in the meantime, my full focus is on delivering on track for this team and having a successful remainder of the season.

The Frenchman clashed heads with Pierre Gasly on multiple occasions. However, Ocon always maintained a professional work ethic and took responsibility for his mistakes. Hence, now with the 27-year-old out, the question for the next driver at Alpine will be in demand. Valtteri Bottas and Carlos Sainz could consider a switch to the French constructor by the coming season.
