Alpine has continued to undergo massive changes within the team throughout the past two years. The team has received the addition of two separate team principals who were changed mid-season. Additionally, the team has landed a deal with Mercedes for the power unit from 2026. Apart from this, the French constructor was rumored to be in talks for a deal with the UK-based giant Onlyfans.
An infamous account on X had rumored the talks between Alpine and Onlyfans for partnership. The major deal meant that Alpine’s long-time partner BWT would exit from the team.
Onlyfans would take up the major advertisement rights for the team as they could’ve received massive changes. However, it has been revealed that it was a hoax all along. GPblog confirmed that these were just rumors and had no strong basis for the claims.
The account that originally posted the rumor on X has since deleted the post and has no other traces. Additionally, there were no confirmations from either of the two giants regarding a deal between the two. Hence, BWT will continue to sponsor Alpine for the coming seasons without any massive change. Apart from this, OnlyFans will likely not consider an entry to the sport anytime soon.
Esteban Ocon labeled Alpine’s failure in recent times as ‘frustrating’
Alpine has continued to face massive struggles in the 2024 season in terms of performance. Esteban Ocon who is all set to leave the team by the end of this season noted that the team improved on other things. However, Ocon couldn’t keep waiting without finding any fix to the problem. The entire ordeal seemed frustrating for the Frenchman as the issues hadn’t been fixed the way they should’ve been.
We've improved a lot of other things, but you can't be waiting years and years to be able to fix some problems. And that's what has happened, the circle didn't come back. The issues haven't been fixed the way they should have been, which is frustrating.Esteban Ocon said, as reported by racingnews365.com
Alpine’s current priorities lie in attempting to score a comeback from the massive performance slump. The French constructor has already scored some great points over the past races. Hence, the remainder of the season will be spent on implementing upgrades and overtaking the bottom order of the grid.
