Aston Martin performance director Tom McCullough has delivered his verdict on the current era of Formula 1. The Silverstone-based team has amassed only 73 points in 14 races during the 2024 campaign.

Aston Martin has been far from efficient this year as compared to their runs in the previous campaign. They have struggled greatly to find balance with the AMR24, failing to come up with a potent solution to their woes so far.

McCullough has thereafter deemed the current era as a game of efficiency given the strict budget cap imposed by the FIA. He has also claimed that the team will greatly benefit from the upcoming new developments in 2025.

This is a development race. Things like having our own wind tunnel, our new simulator, the new factory, will make us more efficient. The budget cap era is a game of efficiency, it's all about efficiency.

The Silverstone-based team will now look to utilize the summer break for a much-needed change in the AMR24’s upgrades. Their attempts will face a stern test when Formula 1 returns to action at the Dutch GP this week.

Aston Martin face huge pressure to perform ahead second half

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack has offered an insight into the team’s goals ahead of the second half of the season. Krack claims that the AMR24 must be able to perform up to the conformable standards after the summer break.

I think the perception from outside is not wrong or erroneous. The perception inside is huge pressure because [the upgrade] doesn’t deliver what you were expected to deliver and trying to solve this as quick as possible [is now the aim] and in that point, I understand also that there is less patience.

Mike Krack claimed that the outer expectations for Aston Martin are not to be deemed as wrong or unjustifiable. Krack, however, claimed that the team is working around the clock in order to deliver proper results after the summer break.

Aston Martin has failed to score a single podium this season, which summarizes their performance as a whole. They will now hope to pick up the pace in order to deliver the expected results for the remainder of the campaign.
