Charles Leclerc labels Carlos Sainz’s DNF a ‘shame’ after last-minute collision with Sergio Perez
Charles Leclerc voiced his disappointment from the crash between Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez towards the end of the Azerbaijan GP.

The Azerbaijan GP put forth an extremely enticing battle between Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri for the race win. Piastri fended off well against the in-form Ferrari of Leclerc and scored his second victory. However, Sergio Perez quickly lost his podium contention after a colossal crash with Carlos Sainz towards the end of the race.
Charles Leclerc still scored a P2 finish and managed great points for the team despite Carlos Sainz‘s DNF. The Monegasque was full of praises for the great job done by Oscar Piastri and McLaren throughout the Azerbaijan GP. Additionally, the 26-year-old voiced his opinion on the crash between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz.

Subsequently, Charles Leclerc claimed that it was a ‘great shame’ for Carlos Sainz to crash out in the penultimate lap. Hence, Leclerc hoped that everyone was okay following the incident towards the end. Finally, the Monegasque declared that the day wasn’t a ‘great day’ for Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc claimed he will ‘learn’ from the ‘mistakes’ committed in Baku
Charles Leclerc lost out on the lead from the pole position and failed to convert it into a race win. Hence, Leclerc claimed that he was unable to get as close as he wanted to Piastri and lost the race. Regardless, the 26-year-old hoped to learn from the mistakes committed in Baku.

Ferrari missed out on a major chunk of points alongside Red Bull following the big incident. McLaren has taken the WCC lead amidst the dominant performance in the 2024 season. As a result, everything lies on the rivals to close the gap on Woking in the championship standings going ahead into the season.
