Carlos Sainz is currently seatless for the coming season in Formula 1. The Spaniard is playing the waiting game over his contract discussion from 2025 onwards. However, multiple high-level teams have already decided on their drivers’ lineup. Hence, Sainz will have to make a quick decision if he wants to land a seat in one of the top teams.
Carlos Sainz was being considered for a seat in Audi after the team’s arrival in the 2026 season. Additionally, the Spaniard was considered for Alpine after Flavio Briatore‘s entry to the French constructor. Regardless, Sainz has yet to make a final decision about his team situation in the coming season.
A majority of the drivers’ market will open up by the 2025 season as multiple teams are looking at their driver options. Hence, Sainz thanked all the drivers who were yet to take the final call. However, the Spaniard failed to understand why there was such a hurry over the decision. Additionally, the 29-year-old recalled that these talks would start towards the end of the season.
At the same time, I thank everyone that is having to hang in there while I take the decision, What I don’t fully understand is why the market is happening so early this year? Why everyone is so much in a rush? I remember it used to be in the summer break, September, July, it used to be when all of those situations started to happen.Carlos Sainz said, as reported by racingnews365.com.
Carlos Sainz claims he had to take the ‘patient pill’ over final team decision
Carlos Sainz continues to be the center of rumors of joining multiple teams in the 2024 season. Apart from this, people believed the 29-year-old would consider taking a break from the sport. However, Sainz hasn’t yet put forth any official statement regarding the entire ordeal.
Sainz reckoned that multiple teams had been patient with him and thanked them for it. However, the Spaniard wasn’t the only one taking the final call over his future in Formula 1. As a result, the 29-year-old had to take the ‘patient pill’ regarding the entire contractual talks with the teams.
The teams have been very patient and I thank them for that, But I’ve also had to be patient, it’s not like I’m the only one here, the only one deciding that. I also had to take my patient pill with other things and I’ve had to be patient.Carlos Sainz noted.
The current season has seen a rollercoaster of performance from Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard driver started the season off in a great fashion. However, the 29-year-old is currently facing a slump in performance despite winning the Australian GP. Hence, the remainder of the season will witness attempts to revive the older winning performance for Sainz.
