Charles Leclerc claims Ferrari’s rapid progress in 2024 ‘down to the car and hard work’

Charles Leclerc appreciated Ferrari’s progress on building a driveable car this season. The Monegasque admits the progress is down to the team rather than himself and Carlos Sainz. Despite a recent retirement in Montreal from both the Ferrari drivers the team has enjoyed an impressive start to the season.

Charles Leclerc admitted that as a driver you naturally gets better from one season to another. However, the 26-year-old highlighted the recent improvements in performance is mostly due to advancements in the team and the car itself rather than his skill alone. The Monegasque explained that no matter what kind of talent the driver has, without team efforts he cannot achieve great results.

I think as a driver from one season to the other, you always improve. However, when you look at the step we've done, this is a lot more down to the team and to the car, as drivers you cannot do such a step.

Leclerc realized that it was not about driving poorly last year, but rather about the collective effort and progress made by the entire team has shown it’s results. This shows how drivers like him continue to improve with the improvement made to the cars performance by the team. Leclerc won his home race in Monaco this season.

Charles Leclerc mentioned that over the past seven to eight months, Ferrari has been bringing consistent improvements and quickly fixing any problems with the car. These efforts has made them the team that has shown the most improvements during hard times. The 26-year-old expressed his thoughts on being focused on their own performance, rather than worrying about what other teams are doing.

I think we've had a really good approach in the last seven to eight months in order to be very quick in addressing the issues that we had on the car, and and that's why we are the team that have improved the most in those in this period.

The 26-year-old pointed out how the changes in the car from last year to this year has made the car driveable. It was much more easy to handle and faster on the tracks. This improvement isn’t just about the car itself. It also means he as a driver keeps getting better and better.

But definitely the biggest difference from last year to this year is the car being a lot more drivable, faster and as a driver is just a continuous improvement.

Overall, Charles Leclerc believes the upcoming performance will bring the best results for the team because his driving skills has improved a lot because of the car. Ferrari fans are expecting their team to reduce the gap of 49 points with Red Bull in the upcoming races.
