Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc displayed exceptional skill and composure to win the 2024 Italian Grand Prix last week. Leclerc has now won the Maranello-based team’s home race in Monza twice, having earlier claimed the victory in 2019.
Charles Leclerc has made a return to the top spots after a fairly lackluster run in the past few races. He started the campaign on a strong note, amassing an extravagant win in his hometown of Monaco. Leclerc has since struggled to consistently perform against the powerful likes of McLaren and Red Bull.
The Monegasque driver has thereafter vouched to deliver an even better performance than the Monza one at the Baku City Circuit next week. Leclerc has deemed Baku as one of his favorite tracks, vesting full faith in his team to perform well.
I still think McLaren are the favourites, but we've made a step forward, that's for sure. Baku is a circuit I'm quite good at, I like it and I've been competitive in the past, so maybe we can achieve something special there again.Charles Leclerc via soymotor
The seven-time race winner admits that Ferrari now stands a solid chance of continuing their good run against McLaren and Red Bull. The upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix is going to be a feisty affair between the top teams as they look to win around the streets of Baku.
Charles Leclerc claims Ferrari has more work to do to win races
Ferrari’s SF-24 showed commendable pace around their home track at Monza last week. While many have highly rated the Maranello-based team’s comeback, Charles Leclerc feels that there is more work to be done.
Have we done a step forward? Yes. Is it enough to go and win races until the end of the season? I don't think so yet, but we did a good step in the right direction.Charles Leclerc told the media including RacingNews365
The Monegasque driver has deemed the newer approaches and upgrades as a step in the right direction for the team. However, Leclerc thinks that current advancements by themselves are not sufficient enough for Ferrari to win till the end.
The Reds currently stand third in the constructors’ championship, trailing the leaders Red Bull by 39 points. Ferrari’s hopes of winning the title will therefore depend on their efforts both on and off the track this campaign.
