Former Brazilian driver Christian Fittipaldi has talked highly about Oscar Piastri. The McLaren driver has secured two wins and seven podiums this season and is currently fourth in the drivers’ championship.

Oscar Piastri has established a reputation as a skilled driver in just two seasons at the pinnacle of motorsport. His abilities have led many to deem him a future world champion.

Fittipaldi has thereafter pipped Piastri to join Red Bull in 2025. He claimed that the Milton Keynes-base team might offer the 23-year-old better opportunities in place of a poorly performing Sergio Perez.

At the end of the year, I don’t see it as impossible for Oscar Piastri to go to Perez’s place at Red Bull next year. Piastri might get a bit tired of the situation at McLaren and say ‘Thanks for your help but I need to think about myself’.

Christian Fittipaldi said

Piastri has been a major factor in McLaren’s meteoric rise this season. His consistency and pace have helped the Papayas take the lead in the Constructors’ Championship for the first time since 2014. The upcoming years could therefore witness the 23-year-old make a move if the Woking-based team fails to fulfill his wishes.

Sergio Perez has claimed that his team has made necessary changes to deliver greater pace this week at Austin. The 34-year-old added that the conditions will be trickier for Red Bull with only a single practice session ahead of the sprint race.

We are looking to come into Austin in a better place with the car. We have made some changes in the break, aimed at improving the pace and we will see how competitive we are in Austin. It being a Sprint race makes things a little tricky, because we have one practice session to get the car right before it counts but that’s where working as a Team comes in and that’s what we excel at.

The Milton Keynes-based team has lost its lead and now trails McLaren by 41 points in the Constructors’ Championship. The last six races of the season will now be a stern test for them as they seek to retain the title for the fourth consecutive year.
