Aston Martin shocked the entire F1 paddock after successfully acquiring Adrian Newey on a multi-year deal. The aero-genius will start working on the chassis in the coming season as the constructor hopes to receive a boost in performance. However, Christian Horner wasn’t too happy with this deal between the two as he voiced his opinions.

Adrian Newey was already rumored to join Aston Martin with a deal of over $200 Million and other benefits as a stakeholder. Hence, the 65-year-old termed the move to Silverstone as ‘natural’ amidst the benefits. Christian Horner showcased his resentment of the deal and noted that it was a ‘large announcement’. Additionally, Horner berated Newey and claimed that the latter always did his thing.

It was obviously a large announcement by Aston and Adrian has always tended to do his own thing so obviously it was a big moment for that team.

Horner further berated the entire matter and claimed that Aston Martin celebrated the move ‘prematurely.’ Horner pointed out the pending deal between Red Bull and Newey which was supposed to end this year. However, the Red Bull boss believed the acquisition was a ‘big moment’ and deserved all the hype.

They chose to celebrate it perhaps potentially slightly prematurely before he has finished his contract with Red Bull Racing but obviously it was a big moment for that team.

Christian Horner labeled Adrian Newey’s move as ‘not a great surprise’

Christian Horner and Co. believed that Adrian Newey would see his way into retirement after exiting Red Bull. However, Horner noted that Newey’s late-career switch was not surprising.

Subsequently, the 50-year-old believed that the aero-genius would face a ‘new challenge’ heading to Aston Martin from the coming season.

It wasn't a great surprise; I think it was becoming clearer and clearer that that was the route that he was going to go rather than into retirement or any other team so obviously it will be a new challenge for him and it will be sad to see when he leaves next year but we wish him all the best for the future.

Red Bull’s 2024 performance took a massive hit after Newey was reportedly ignored during chassis development. As a result, Aston Martin would have great hopes from the technical wizard to help the team rise up in performance. The coming seasons will showcase how the entire deal between the two pans out.
