Checo consistently underperformed, especially in the following Grands Prix, leading to criticism and discussions about his future with Red Bull. To boost his morale, Red Bull extended his contract until 2025, but his performance continued to decline afterward.

Team principal Christian Horner described the situation as vague when discussing the Mexican and indicated that VCARB could be a potential team for him in 2025.

As I mentioned earlier, Checo has a contract for next year, so he’s currently our driver for 2025. Obviously, there is a a seat available in VCARB, and they’re all Red Bull Racing drivers that are on that are on loan.

Christian Horner said, as reported by GPblog

Red Bull is fully committed to helping Sergio Perez find the right setup to improve his performance. The team is engaging in regular discussions focused on adjustments that could enhance the car’s balance and stability.

Despite these efforts, Checo has yet to deliver the expected results. Team principal Christian Horner plans to discuss the potential replacement of the 35-year-old with Laurent Mekies and Peter Bayer.

We have the benefit of time to sit down with Laurent [Mekies] and Peter [Bayer] and look at all the options.

Despite his recent struggles, Perez remains a significant figure in Mexican sports, maintaining strong ties with brands and fans alike.

I think he’s endorsing every product from Uber Eats to toilet roll this weekend, so it’s impressive how many endorsements he’s managed to line-up for himself .

Christian Horner noted

Endorsements play a significant role in F1, allowing drivers to enhance their income and visibility. They reflect not just a driver’s performance but also their marketability and the support of fans.

The 35-year-old needs to improve his performance in his home race to regain confidence and support from fans and sponsors after a series of lackluster results.
