Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has shared his thoughts on Sergio Perez‘s future with the team. Perez has been one of the weakest links for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit ever since the previous season.

Sergio Perez is currently on a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2026. However, his performances have failed to meet the clauses in his contract so far. If he continues to underperform, the team might sack him before his contract ends.

Christian Horner was therefore hesitant in answering as to whether or not Perez will be a driver next season. Horner cited that the Milton-Keynes-based team is now third in the constructors’ championship due to the Mexican’s poor run.

Things have now gone from bad to worse for the 34-year-old driver in Formula 1. Perhaps the only way in which he can save this seat is to put out impressively strong performances in the remainder of the races. But his team’s pace against their rivals might make that a near-impossible dream for him to achieve.

Christian Horner laments further on Sergio Perez’s dismal home outing in Mexico

Sergio Perez disappointingly finished P17 at the back of the grid on Sunday in Mexico. At the end of the 71-lap race, he tried to make an attempt at notching the fastest lap but failed in achieving that too.

Checo again has had a horrible weekend. Nothing’s gone right for him this weekend. He knows Formula 1 is a results-based business and inevitably when you’re not delivering then the spotlight is firmly on you.

The 50-year-old boss concluded that Perez had a horrible weekend around the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. He urged the six-time race winner to remember the importance of notching good results and scoring points.

Red Bull trails Mclaren and Ferrari in the constructors’ championship after a dismal result on Sunday. Their hopes of securing both titles are now diminishing with every passing race solely due to Perez’ poor form.
