The Belgian GP remained another setback for Sergio Perez despite his strong performance in Qualifying. The Mexican started the race from the front row but other drivers, including his teammate Max Verstappen who started from 11th, overtook him. Rumors suggested that this might be Checo’s last race, but team principal Christian Horner denied those allegations.
Team principal Christian Horner and Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko met to discuss Perez’s form among other things on Monday. Horner stated that Sergio Perez will still remain as a driver for Red Bull despite recent rumors of suggesting otherwise. There had been a lot of speculation about Checo leaving the team after the first half of the season. However, the 50-year-old stated that it’s not true, the Mexican will remain part of the team and continue racing after summer break.

Horner emphasized that they believe Sergio Perez can achieve strong results in future races.

Christian Horner claims Sergio Perez understands the need to perform for Red Bull
In a recent interview Christian Horner was asked how long Red Bull will give Perez to improve his performance. Horner stated that Checo knows very well that they need both cars to perform well. He emphasized that the Mexican is fully aware of the team’s expectations and the importance of having both drivers delivering strong results.
I think that he’s acutely aware that we need both cars performingChristian Horner stated.
Horner emphasized Perez needs to deliver strong results alongside his teammate to show his capabilities. He pointed out that at the beginning of the year, both drivers were performing well, and the team was in a very strong position. They need to get back to that level of performance to ensure they stay competitive and achieve their goals for the season. It’s important for the team to have both drivers consistently scoring points and contributing to their success.
Which is what we had at the beginning of the year, and where we need to get back to.Christian Horner added.
Certainly, Christian Horner explained that the team has messed up in recent races and they need to get back on track after the summer break. The races after the break may be a deciding factor for Sergio Perez’s stay at Red Bull so he needs to perform well and score points for the teams. For now, F1 is on break as the summer has begun, however they are set to bounce back once the break is over.
