The 2024 season resumes this weekend with the first race at Zandvoort. Max Verstappen was very excited to race here because it is his home race. However, the Dutchman did not have a good outing on Friday, as he noticed the car’s pace had not improved. To win the 2024 titles, Red Bull need to fix the issues immediately and get things done. However, the weather also plays an important role for their strategy to work out effectively.
Christian Horner mentioned that the competition has become very close and it has become hard to predict exactly how things will go. He explained they can’t predict how much of a fuel competitors are using, what engine settings they are running. This is making it hard for Red Bull to plan their strategies that would gave them an advantage over rivals.
It's very close, of course we don't know fuel levels and engine mode, I think it's going to be very very tight.Christian Horner told SkySportsF1
Horner believed the race will be extremely competitive and there won’t be much difference in performance between the teams. He claimed that they need both car’s firing on cylinders to defend their position. Christian Horner also mentioned the weather will play a key role on Saturday, because the forecast looked bad and which could affect their strategy.
It depends on what the weather is for tomorrow, the forecast looks horrible and Sunday looks alright.Christian Horner added.
Christian Horner speaks on Red Bull’s prospects for 2024 title
Christian Horner expressed confidence about their chances of winning both constructors and drivers championship by the end of the season. With another 10 races left, Horner reckoned they could score more points and top the standings but are still struggling with the pace. They have already won 7 races and 2 sprint races and have started from pole position in 9 of them. Despite these achievements, the 50-year-old noted that the competition has tightened up and teams are giving a tough battle to Red Bull.
10 races is still a chunk of points, but we won 7 of the races, 2 sprints and qualified for 9 poles, the competition has commenced.Christian Horner stated.
Certainly, Horner acknowledged that if Red Bull can return to their previous pace and start racing as they did before, they can offer strong competition to others. Fans hope the team improves the car’s performance in no time, for helping Max Verstappen secure pole position on Saturday.
