Red Bull celebrated their 20th season of Formula 1 in great fashion at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Multiple key figures from the team and even the former drivers such as David Coulthard and others were present. The team also unveiled Adrian Newey‘s final RB17 Hypercar at the Festival. Amidst everything, Christian Horner broke silence over Sebastian Vettel’s absence at the grand show.

David Coulthard was one of the notable figures present at the event and said great things about the team. Sebastian Vettel has had a great history with the team after scoring four world championships. The German driver was supposed to drive one of the cars at the Festival of Speed. However, Christian Horner revealed that since the 37-year-old had an outing with his family, he couldn’t attend.

Sebastian Vettel was due to drive one of the cars here but he’s on holiday with his family and wasn’t able to make Goodwood, so the guys suggested why don’t you drive it?
Christian Horner said, as reported by planetf1.com.

As a result, Christian Horner decided to try his hands at driving the RB8 at the festival. Vettel’s absence allowed the Red Bull team principal to drive the chassis. Horner was the ‘stand-in’ for the weekend of the Festival since the German driver couldn’t make it to the event.

So I will be Sebastian’s stand-in for the weekend here at Goodwood.
Christian Horner added.

Christian Horner labeled the experience of driving the RB8 as ‘fun’

It had been a long time since Christian Horner had last driven a Formula 1 chassis. The team principal focused more on managing the team and the challenger rather than driving it. However, the 50-year-old drove the RB8 at the Festival and labeled it as a fun experience.

It was fun.

Additionally, the Red Bull boss opened up about his first-time experience driving the Red Bull chassis with a hand clutch and two pedals.

The first time I’ve driven a Red Bull car and certainly the first time with a hand clutch and two pedals. I haven’t driven a single-seater since 1998 and a Formula 1 car since 1993.
Christian Horner concluded.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed was a great show that showcased the Red Bull team and their legacy in Formula 1. The team has many more years of dominance due in the sport and they will continue to do so. The 2024 season is extremely crucial for the Austrian constructor amidst the struggling pace.
