The 2024 British GP was yet another horrible weekend for Sergio Perez. While on the other hand teammate Max Verstappen managed to secure second position despite starting fourth. The Mexican driver failed to score in major points over the recent few races and British GP was proven yet another bad weekend for him.
Christian Horner commented on Sergio Perez’s aggressive strategy during the race, describing it as a gamble that unfortunately didn’t work out well. The team opted to switch to intermediate tires, hoping for an advantage as conditions changed. However, the track didn’t get wet enough to benefit from those tires, leaving Checo at a disadvantage compared to competitors who stayed on dry tires. Horner mentioned it was a tough weekend overall for Perez, reflecting on the strategic decisions made during the race.
It's been a horrible weekend for Checo, we went for a gamble with the inters but it didn't pay off, the track was too dry.

Further, Horner expressed that in Formula 1 outcomes often change between winning and losing. Perez unfortunately ended up on the losing side of the British GP. Horner noted that Sergio Perez faced challenges in maintaining competitive pace. Despite his determined efforts the required speed to compete effectively was simply lacking on race day.
You either win a lot or lose a lot and unfortunately he loses a lot to that point, but the pace just wasn't quite there todayChristian Horner added

Sergio Perez labeled himself unlucky when weather didn’t favor him
Sergio Perez explained that the team took a risk by switching to intermediate tires during the race, hoping that rain would come and they will be at an advantage. However, the expected rain did not arrive, which forced Checo to pit again to switch back to dry tires. The Mexican stated that this strategic gamble didn’t pay off as planned. Perez’s situation highlighted the unpredictability of weather conditions in racing and how critical timing and decisions can be during a race.
We gambled with the inters, hoping for the rain but it didn't come, so we ended up boxing again.Sergio Perez said
Further, Perez expressed disappointment and described the situation as unfortunate and unlucky. As Checo started from a tough position on the grid, the team decided to take a chance with their strategy by choosing a different type of tires. Perez highlighted that they simply did their best under that situation. This reflected the team’s determination to capture any opportunity for a better outcome, even though luck didn’t favor them on such occasions.
Very unfortunate and unlucky there. From the position we were in we had to gamble, we just tried to do our very best.Sergio Perez added
