Christian Horner has finally publicly spoken on his situation following his disappointing Red Bull exit months ago. The Briton was linked to a move to multiple constructors, with Alpine being at the forefront. However, these rumors fizzled out, and he did not return to the grid, atleast in 2025. Now, Horner opened up on the ‘unfinished business’ in Formula 1 as he hints at a return to the pinnacle of motorsport.
Recently, Christian Horner was rumored to be looking into purchasing Otro Capital’s 24% stake in Alpine, which is spearheaded by celebrities and athletes such as Ryan Reynolds, Michael B. Jordan, and others. Horner feels that F1 is his true calling and would love to return to the sport, but is in no hurry to sign a deal with any of the constructors on the grid.
Speaking on his disappointing exit, Christian Horner assured that he had unfinished business in the sport. Despite overlooking eight drivers’ and six constructors’ titles, he isn’t done with the sport yet. Horner noted that his career in F1 did not end the way he wanted to, and hence did not feel satisfaction following his Red Bull exit.
However, Christian Horner accepted that he just wouldn’t simply return to the grid with the first opportunity he received. The Englishman’s determination to win on track remained the same. As such, he did not want to return to the paddock unless he had a major role to play in a team. Horner pointed out that he missed the sport, its people, and the team that he had built from the ground up in Red Bull.
I feel like I have unfinished business in Formula One, It didn’t finish the way that I would have liked it to finish. But I am not going to come back for just anything. I am only going to come back for something that can win. I don’t want to go back in the paddock unless I have something to do. I miss the sport, I miss the people, I miss the team that I built.
Christian Horner said, as reported by The Sun.
Christian Horner wants to be a partner and not a ‘hired hand’
Christian Horner led Red Bull to success for over two decades before being axed brutally by the squad. As such, the Briton was now looking at leading a team like Toto Wolff with Mercedes. Horner wanted to be a shareholder of a team apart from being a principal. As such, the 52-year-old reassured that he would only return to the sport on his own terms.

Christian Horner noted that he did not need to return to F1 and could end his career now and enjoy retirement. Moreover, he would only return to the sport if he had an opportunity to work with great people having ambition to win. Additionally, Horner reassured that he wanted to be a partner rather than a hired hand in a team. However, the Englishman was in no rush to confirm his situation, as he could let time do its thing.
I don’t need to go back. I could stop my career now. So I would only go back for the right opportunity to work with great people, and to work in an environment where people want to win, and they shared that desire. I would want to be a partner, rather than just a hired hand, but we will see how it plays out. I am not in a rush. I don’t need to do anything.
Christian Horner noted.
Despite Christian Horner’s problematic personal life, he was one of the greatest talents to lead a team in Formula 1. He was also the longest-serving team principal of a team and led Red Bull to genuine success. As such, Horner’s capabilities cannot be questioned, and he would only push for success at any team he joins.
