Donald Trump‘s return to the Presidency for a second term in the United States has been nothing short of a challenge. The 47th president has played a crucial role in improving world peace, but issues within the US persist. Now, as Trump hopes to make America great again, ex-F1 champion Damon Hill has weighed in on the current political state of the nation.

Damon Hill is a prominent voice within the F1 community who also comments on various geopolitical issues around the world. Despite being primarily British, Hill didn’t hesitate to call out America’s changed dynamics in recent years. July 20th, 2025, marked the 56th anniversary of the world’s first moon landing conducted by NASA, involving the astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. The US received widespread praise and honor after successfully carrying out the Apollo 11 mission, the first time a human stepped foot on a planetary body other than the earth.

Since 1969, the US conducted six more Apollo missions, with Apollo 17 being the last manned mission to the moon. There haven’t been such massive missions in recent years that have a massive involvement of American entities. As such, Damon Hill took to X and took a dig at the nation’s decreasing interest in space missions and hoped for them to return back to the high standard that they set for themselves.

Damon Hill recalled Buzz Aldrin and his comments during the final stages of Apollo 11 wherein he preached to God to bless the nation and all its people. Hill reminisced about the pride that the US citizens felt in the moment and how it wasn’t the same anymore. While the 1996 F1 champion did not name Donald Trump or his administration, it seemed that he was hinting that US politicians needed to make bring their country back to its former glory,

Read to the end: ‘God bless the USA and ALL of humankind’. That used to be the USA we all loved. Make America like that again.
