Mercedes set to investigate George Russell’s car over Belgian GP disqualification
Mercedes’ Andrew Shovlin in an interview mentioned that it’s very difficult for Russell to be disqualified after putting in such a great performance. Shovlin believed Russell was the best driver on the track as he defended his position with worn tires. However, the unexpected incident was just his bad luck at that moment.
It's really tough for George to have been disqualified from the win after such an impressive drive.Andrew Shovlin said, as reported by RacingNews365
Shovlin mentioned Russell did an excellent job with his tires and defending the position until the end of the race. However, Andrew Shovlin stated that the team did not understand how the car was found underweight after the race. He mentioned Mercedes would look into it carefully to figure out the reason. They were hopeful that further investigation would clarify what went wrong.
He did a brilliant job to hang onto the tyres and defend to the finish. We don't yet understand why the car was underweight following the race but will investigate thoroughly to find the explanation.Andrew Shovlin added.
Certainly, Andrew Shovlin mentioned the analysis and investigation will be on the way before they take the rest for summer break. The investigation is necessary as it would also help them to understand things and improve it next time to avoid such mistakes. Fans devastated to see George Russell’s win get taken away by race control.
