Since the start of the season, Daniel Ricciardo has not reached his peak performance and has only scored nine points for RB. This could cause trouble for the Australian’s contract extension for next season.

After the race in Canada, reporters asked the Australian. about his hopes for a seat at Red Bull. However, this is now impossible because Red Bull has decided to extend Sergio Perez’s contract. The 34-year-old claimed Perez’s extension doesn’t ‘mean anything’ for his hopes of returning to Red Bull.

I don’t think it means anything like ‘that’s it’ in terms of [my prospects]. I don’t see it as: ‘Oh, maybe I won’t get a chance.'

Riccardo acknowledge his performance so far he hasn’t been as good as he hoped. Albeit for a standout result in Miami. However, Daniel Ricciardo reckoned his future prospects are over because of his poor performance since the beginning.

Personally, I’ve had one amazing result in Miami but the rest of my season has been not really what I expect out of myself.
Daniel Ricciardo stated

Ricciardo claimed that his success massively depended on consistently performing better. The 34-year-old hoped his performance improves from past races so that he can attract opportunities for the future.

I want my season to go better than it is to really help with any opportunities like that. I’m also realistic.
