Daniel Ricciardo remained one of the more loved drivers in the F1 community despite his disappointing exit. The Aussie refused many opportunities to return to racing and remains Ford Racing’s Ambassador. Following his exit after the culmination of the 2024 Singapore GP. Ricciardo has now said that a return to the pinnacle of motorsport terrifies him rather than excites him.
Ricciardo embarked on various ventures after his F1 exit, with his lifestyle brand Enchante among his major projects. The honey badger was often asked about his interest in returning to racing, but he always assured fans he was done with the sport. Now, the Aussie made a shocking confession about how it took some time to rediscover himself.
Given the intense lifestyle of Formula 1, Daniel Ricciardo seems to be glad to be out of the hectic cycle. Ricciardo accepted that it took him quite some time to figure out what his purpose in life was apart from being a racecar driver. Now, the eight-time race winner accepted that he now felt much more comfortable with his career decisions.
Daniel Ricciardo noted that he was more relaxed than ever, not racing in Formula 1. He noted that returning to the chaotic lifestyle terrified him now. Safe to say that the Aussie isn’t returning as a driver in any form of motorsport for the near future. For now, Ricciardo is satisfied with his ambassador role with Ford Racing. He is also clearly enjoying the time spent with Red Bull drivers, especially his best friend Max Verstappen.
[It] took me a while to figure it out after racing, probably who I was and what maybe my purpose was beyond just being a race car driver, So I’d say I’m much closer to being comfortable with that. I sit here just more relaxed, and the thought of going back into a chaotic sort of lifestyle terrifies me, to be honest.

Daniel Ricciardo did not hide his pain and disappointment following his Red Bull exit. Despite continuous attempts, the Aussie failed to return to his winning ways in Formula 1. As such, after exiting the motorsport, it was clear that he needed to select a completely different career path. Ricciardo recalled how difficult it was to figure out a career path and what ultimately helped him figure it all out.

During his F1 tenure, Daniel Ricciardo was someone with a very bubbly personality, always cracking jokes and smiling. The 36-year-old accepted that he was good at putting on a brave face, often suppressing his true feelings inside him. However, when everything quieted down following his exit, he was aware that he had to do some soul-searching. He quickly figured out that jumping headlong into another venture wouldn’t have helped him figure himself out.
I was always pretty good at putting on a brave face and letting people know that I was good and happy and everything’s fine. But when everything quieted down, and, let’s say, the lights were turned off, I was like, ‘OK, I need to do some soul searching and make sure that I’m good with all this.’ Jumping back into something as well and having another distraction was not going to help me figure out who I was.

Despite not being directly connected to Formula 1, a majority of the people in the community still love Daniel Ricciardo like they always did. Many fans are waiting to catch a glimpse of the honey badger at one of the racing venues, potentially the American races. For now, it is clear that Ricciardo isn’t returning to racing anytime soon and is satisfied with his career choices for now.
