Red Bull Racing driver, Sergio Perez signed a contract extension with the Milton-Keynes outfit earlier this season, which supposedly keeps him with the team until the end of 2026. However, the Mexican has not been able to back his contract with satisfactory performances, having scored just 11 points in the last four races.
While the Mexican has struggled, RB’s Daniel Ricciardo, on the other hand, has been a potent topic of discussion as a 2025 replacement for Perez. But, Ricciardo has himself not been the best of pilots on the grid and is currently in a struggling position for RB with very few improvements in his performance.
These speculations therefore come into light after Red Bull and RB have reportedly drafted serious performance clauses for both Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo. As per Auto Motor Und Sport, the Milton-Keynes outfit reportedly wants both drivers to perform to the best of their abilities to keep their seats within the team.
Daniel Ricciardo is expected to perform in an upward trend to secure a probable promotion to Red Bull in the event of continuous underperformance by Perez. However if the 34-year-old Mexican backs the expectations of Red Bull, a future might indeed be certain for the six-time race winner in F1.
Christian Horner backs Sergio Perez to bounce back amidst struggling form
Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner has been a supportive figure for Sergio Perez throughout the Mexican’s poor run of form the past year. Horner has strongly backed the 34-year-old’s resilience and hard work to bounce back to winning ways.
He knows that, he's aware of that, he's been working hard in the sim this week, working hard to understand where it's just not playing out for him. But what we've constantly seen with him is this resilience to be able to bounce back. We're hoping to see that very soon.Christian Horner via RacingNews365
Perez has not had a win in over a year with his last triumph in Azerbaijan during the 2023 season. The Mexican driver started the current campaign on a positive note, scoring four podiums in five races but has fallen off rapidly, scoring just 112 points in a total of 11 races.
Christian Horner has opened up to the media, saying that Perez has been putting his maximum effort into bouncing back while working hard on his physical attributes and simulations. The 34-year-old driver will now try his best to secure a better finish at Silverstone in an attempt to overturn his performance woes this season.
