Esteban Ocon finally breaks silence on Monaco crash backlash amidst Canadian GP speculation

The Alpine F1 driver, Esteban Ocon has had a torrid time since the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. Since his infamous crash with teammate, Pierre Gasly, he has been bashed from all angles, but ahead of the upcoming Canadian race weekend, he has finally come out and shared his opinion on the recent happenings.

Esteban Ocon was brutally criticized by Alpine team principal, Bruno Famin for his Monaco antics and thus, was a doubt for the Canadian GP. After the lap 1 Monaco incident, Famin claimed there would be ‘consequences’ for Ocon.

However, the 27-year-old driver has put to bed all the speculation with his recent social media post.

Much has been said in the aftermath of the Monaco Grand Prix. I have been deeply saddened by the amount of abuse and negativity I have received online. In the end, we are all competitors and hard, fair racing is what makes our sport so great. I'm looking forward to competing in Montreal in front of the fantastic Canadian fans.

Looking at the reaction of Ocon, it is quite clear he is extremely disappointed with the hate he has received following the Monaco incident. Moreover, he has put to bed all the speculation regarding his Canadian GP participation by admitting that he is looking forward to it.

Esteban Ocon respects Pierre Gasly as a ‘teammate’

While Ocon has revealed that he will be participating in the Canadian GP, he has also via his post, talked about his teammate, Pierre Gasly. The duo have shared a tainted history and have not been the best of friends in F1.

However, despite the animosity, Ocon has admitted that he has the utmost respect for Gasly.

I respect Pierre as a teammate and as a competitor. We have always worked collaboratively and professionally inside the team and this will continue to be the case.

Ocon and Gasly’s contract with the Alpine F1 team is coming to a close at the end of this year. They both are fighting for their place in the sport and have thus, been linked with various teams. The ongoing campaign is only eight rounds down and keeping in view the recent happenings since Monaco, several eyes will be glued on the Alpine duo during the highly anticipated Canadian Grand Prix.
